A1. Sun Spots – Milky Globe and James Holden
AA1. Lava Flow – Milky Globe and Nathan Fake (Dusty Cabinets mix)
Long overdue return from Milky Globe alias Jon Tye, Lo Recordings impresario and
man of many masks including Twisted Science, Hairy Butter, 2 Player, MLO. In the
past he’s worked with everyone from Derrick May, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth)
Todd Terry, David Thomas (Pere Ubu) and many other strange and talented folk.
Here in the company of all round electronic genius and man of the moment James
Holden – recent remixes include Madonna and Depeche Mode - and talented newcomer
Nathan Fake, Tye delivers 2 slices of seriously deep electronic psychedelia.
The ‘Sun Spots’ cut is as deep a piece of electronic dub as you’re ever likely to hear,
the Globe’s mellifluous tones combining richly with Holden’s ever shifting kaleidoscopic
palate of abstract tones and crisp almost garage beats.
‘Lava Flow’ takes Fake’s instantly recognizable keyboard motifs and stretches them
into tripped out brightly coloured shapes. The mysterious Dusty Cabinets add soporific
low end groove and the sounds of molten lava to create a futuristic minimal mind
fuck.
